646f9e108c Do San (the God of gamblers) is a legendary gambler helped by his supernatural abilities. He undertakes to help a friend pay a debt by beating his friend's advisory at the card table. Despite being assigned a bodyguard Do San has a freak accident which leaves him with partial memory loss and at a mental stage of a child. The small time hustler Knife, his side-kick and his girl friend, being responsible for the accident takes care of the retarded Do San. After some time they discover that he has not lost all of his powers and takes him on a round at the local gambling halls. After being chased by both Knife's loan-shark and enemies closer to the home of Do San, a final showdown at the card tables may take place. A master gambler loses his memory, and is befriended by a street hustler who discovers his supernatural gambling abilities. ...but the subtitles on the DVD I rented were totally unreadable. They are burned directly into the film (unlike properly formatted DVD subtitles), and sit much too low on the screen, resulting in the English being cropped off. The VHS version might be better. Be warned! Chow Yun Fat is one of the coolest actors to have ever come out of Hong Kong cinema, his roles in films like The Seventh Curse, A Better Tomorrow, The Killer, City on Fire, and Tiger on the Beat establishing the actor as the Chinese equivalent of Clint Eastwood, Cary Grant, Harrison Ford, Charles Bronson, and Robert De Niro all rolled into one. God of Gamblers looks set to continue this tradition, introducing Chow as Ko Chun, a suave, sophisticated gambler who has a seemingly supernatural ability to beat the odds, much to the chagrin

646f9e108c Many years after the events of "Portal," Chell is woken from stasis by a chatty personality core named Wheatley to find the Aperture Science Laboratories falling apart. In the duo's attempt to escape, they end up waking GLaDOS--who is as cold and calculating as ever, and ready to get some more science done. Many years after "Portal," Chell reawakens at Aperture Science and tries to stop GLADoS once again with the help of Wheatley, who has his own plans for the historical facility. I expected this game to be good.

Boy was I wrong.

This game took my definition of good, gave it steroids, and halfway through the game had permanently heightened the bar at which I considered a game "perfect." From the halfway mark, it continued to raise that bar, and in the end, still managed to jump miles above it. Portal 2 is easily my favorite game of all time.

When I started, I was just so amazed that I was freaking playing a sequel to my ex- favorite game of all time (the original Portal). But as I went on, I was just MAYBE starting to get ever-so-slightly bored of it, when BAM! The game took me, threw me against the wall, and yelled at me to never, ever, think those thoughts again.

The ending was just so awesome in how- I'm not going to give away anything- in how you just KNEW what you needed to do.

I laughed at the top-notch humor, I cried at the sheer beauty of the ending, a got goosebumps when *SPOILER REDACTED*, and for the first time ever, for the first time EVER in a video game, I felt like

We all know this genre can produce classy films that get those big box office dollars but, much like any kind of extreme or offbeat artform, it tends to have a DIY ethos. Just as the punk movement inspired street kids to pawn their mum's TV and buy a guitar, horror fans often get their hands on a camera and make their own budgetless epics. German Magarinos is one such fan. For a number of years now, the Argentinian director armed only with a camera, a few gallons of fake blood, some pig guts and the will to offend everyone he can, has been making Z-grade gore flicks that make Bad Taste seem like a 100 million dollar Hollywood blockbuster in comparison. This is as underground as it gets.

Un Cazador de Zombis (aka Zombie Apocalypse Now) is about a rather perverted fellow named Toro who's hired by the church to waste zombies. That's all I'll say about the plot because... that's all the plot there is. This is a difficult film to review, because you can't really criticise a movie for something that it clearly never attempts to be. If you're looking for quality acting, 3 dimensional characters and a well-crafted storyline, then you've come to the wrong place. It doesn't even have a reason for the zombie outbreak, but it doesn't really need one as the zombies are really just a coathanger on which to hang the film's many scenes of bloodshed, dismemberment and sexual deviancy.
